JUBA, SEPTEMBER 18, 2023 (SUDANS POST) – South Sudan’s exiled opposition leader and peace activist Suzanne Jambo has written an open letter to the UN Security Council, urging them to act against President Salva Kiir, who she says is “a real security threat to East Africa region and beyond.”

In the letter dated September 18, 2023, Jambo said that Kiir is a threat to the region and has close ties with Mohamed Hamdan Daglo or Hemedti, the leader of the rebellious Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Sudan which is battling the Sudanese army for control of the country.

“President Kiir’ is a real security threat to East Africa region and beyond. It is common knowledge President Kiir’s very close association with Sudan’s US-sanctioned Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo aka Hemedti leader of Rapid Response Forces, RSF aka Janjaweed that committed the Darfur Genocide in 2003 and currently responsible for mass killings in Sudan’s April 2023 tragic war,” she said.

“This makes Kiir equally a regional warlord and a real threat to regional peace security who must stand trials against humanity, not a peace maker,” she added.

She called on the United Nations and the international community to deny President Kiir further funding, warning that he will “loot and utilize it to oppress us more” and to also deny him debts “that will be a burden on our future generations.”

She also urged the world body to “condemn and cancel Kiir’s demands for sham elections in 2024”, saying that the 2020 National Dialogue called “for free, fair and credible elections,” with without Kiir and Machar taking part.

“The United Nations General Assembly gathered here today, must unequivocally make clear demands which are enforceable, and must give an ultimatum to President Kiir’s government to deliver peace NOW,” she appealed.

“We BEG you please do not watch our people dying in silence and ignored. Our People are diminishing with immense pain and suffering, ACT NOW!” she added, and called on the world to punish Kiir for his ties with Sudanese warlord Hemedti.

Suzan Jambo article has one element, the issue general election in South Sudan needs us to see the benefits of this election which suppose to be conducted in 2025 January and that according to Makuei, the government spokesperson and at the same time, the national Minister of information and broadcasting in Sudan South.

Now, Jambo we can’t contradicts ourselves because the issues to do with war crimes in mother Sudan are well known, if for example you are saying that Daglo was indicted by the ICC during Bashiir time, than the question remains like this, what is the difference between Daglo and Bashiir? Both of them were in the former regime of Sudan and they are still proceeding right away from that moment they climbed in 1989 up to now. Why I said that Jambo? It is because even if Daglo or Burhani claim power then they are still on the same route.

I can agree with the point of sham election to be conducted by the current government of Salva Kiir but the matter of mixing issues of South Sudan and Sudan is not very clear my comrade and doesn’t speak the mind.

Another point that I can agree with you is an issue of president Salva being the peace maker, yes that point is very clear due to the fact that Salva Kiir has issues in his home country, South Sudan and has not resolved those matters and that case I support your idea hundred percent, as I notify the IGAD countries to leave the podium to William Ruto of Kenya with the factor of withdrawing president Salva from deputizing Ruto in concern to the matters of Khartoum, reason being Salva Kiir have not resolved his matters of home country, as you can see now the holdout groups are in question.

Jambo, what we shall advocate for it now is that, first we needs South Sudan to have general peace where all fugitive of war can be repatriated back home and the current sharing government has to build schools to their own children, water sanitation, tarmacking roads, food security and national security as well, from there we are going to develop South Sudan into the international standard and be like Rwanda and other build counties in the world.

    Thanks
