Speaking to Sudans Post yesterday, county police director John Jock Chany, revealed that the murder was a targeted act of revenge.
He explained that the perpetrator, aware of the victim’s presence in the market, had planned the attack. The victim, who had arrived from nearby villages, was sitting and enjoying tea when they were fatally attacked.
“The person who planned to get revenge got the information that the needed person is in the market sitting at the market taking tea. He was coming from villages within Koch, and he planned to attack the late deceased and he killed him,” said John Jock Chany, the county police director.
The deceased was identified as Gatbel Manyang Wuor. The incident occurred in the market at 7:30 p.m. when there were no police officers present.
“The person involved in the killing of the 43-year-old man was identified by local authorities, but he was not arrested. He ran away from where the incident took place,” Chany said.
The two injured individuals were taken to a hospital for treatment and are currently receiving medical care.
Chany said the situation was now under control and the area had not been significantly affected by the incident.
This attack follows a period of relative calm in the region, with no reported revenge killings in the past two months.
