JUBA – The South Sudan Artists’ Union has said that it will tax bars as well as those organizing events including wedding and concerts so that it can generate revenues, according to a statement extended to Sudans Post.

“All the venues in South Sudan especially in Juba must come to the office of South Sudan artist’s Union to get entertainment permit that will allow them to host & organize parties, discos, shows, wedding ceremonies and other social events etc,” the statement signed by Hamet Deng reads in part.

The resolution passed during a meeting last Friday also “passed rules & regulations and declared that 98% entertainment or arts work to be on play lists in hotels, clubs, bars effective from September 2020.”

It said that all involved “must be screened & identified to get SSAU memberships ID card that Will allow them to operate in your venue.”

It further threatened that those who will not abide will pay a fine of SSP500,000 for any “illegal operation.”
