JUBA – Former envoy of South Sudan’s main armed opposition Sudan People’s Liberation Movement in Opposition (SPLM-IO) to the group’s Australia chapter Nyajany Dei Weang has this afternoon met General Simon Gatwech Dual in Magenis.

According to a senior member of the opposition group, Nyajany arrived in Sudan this week arriving from Egypt where she visited her mother after coming from Australia and was accompanied by her husband who is a renowned doctor in Australia.

“Interim chairman of SPLM-IO Kitgwang declaration 1st Lt. General Simon Gatwech Dual meet with Honorable Nyajany Dei Weang and her husband Dr. Bol Puol in Magenis headquarters of SPLM-IO Kitgwang declaration,” the official said.

“She was in Egypt until this week and she arrived to Khartoum two days ago and has this morning arrived in Magenis where he met the chairman and commander in chief General Simon Gatwech Dual,” the official closed to Gen. Gatwech said.

Nyajany served as the head of SPLM-IO Australia Chapter until when he was removed by First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar Teny sparking controversy among members of the SPLM-IO on the way decision-making processes are made within the group.

Last year, she briefly switched allegiance to the SPLM-IO under former opposition governor of the defunct Sobat State Duer Tut Duer, and later on decided to join General Simon Gatwech’s SPLM-IO faction.
