JUBA-The Chinese government on Thursday handed over a cultural exchange center to the University of Juba, marking the deepening of cultural relations between the two countries.

The center, which included 40 desks and chairs, to promote Chinese culture, language, and the arts.

In his remarks during the handover ceremony in Juba, MA Qiang, the Chinese Ambassador to South Sudan, said the Chinese Embassy stands ready to leverage the newly established “China Culture Center” to introduce Chinese language education at the university.

“We will host cultural exchange activities to reinforce the bond between our two peoples. I look forward to your active involvement in fostering this relationship and making young people’s contributions,” MA said.

According to MA, the 13-year diplomatic and historical ties between China and South Sudan have strengthened their bonds.

Meanwhile, Prof. Robert Mayom Deng, Vice Chancellor of the University of Juba, said the launch of the China Culture Center marked another important relationship between China and the University of Juba.

“They just offered it to us, a donation of a solar e-classroom for building a China Culture Center on the main campus, and we were more than glad to oblige,” said Deng.

Deng stated that the establishment of the center is critical to strengthening the cultural understanding between the two countries.

“This center will be providing the Chinese language education as well as carrying out cultural exchange activities. This e-class is an integrated housing with 40 seats of desks and chairs,” he said.

“It’s an interactive flat panel display with solar lighting and an air conditioner, and so the students are going to use it.”
