TORIT – The Governor of Eastern Equatoria State, Louis Lobong Lojore, has officially re-established the Kimotong Local Government Administrative Area, a move welcomed by Buya/Laarim youth as a major step toward improving governance, service delivery, and development in the region.

The announcement was made during a courtesy visit by a delegation of Buya/Laarim youth to the governor, who expressed appreciation for the decision, describing it as a historic achievement for their community.

According to a statement issued by the Governor’s Office, the youth commended Lobong for restoring the administrative area and said the move would strengthen local governance institutions and accelerate socio-economic progress.

“The youth expressed their gratitude for the restoration of the administrative area, noting that the move will strengthen local governance structures, enhance service delivery, and accelerate socio-economic development,” the statement said.

The delegation also called for an inclusive and consultative process in the appointment of the Chief Administrator of the newly re-established area. They urged the state government to engage community stakeholders to ensure the appointment reflects the aspirations and confidence of local residents.

Responding to the concerns, Governor Lobong thanked the youth for what he described as their constructive engagement and commitment to peace and development.

“He welcomed the delegation and appreciated the youth for their constructive engagement and commitment to peace and development,” the statement noted.

The governor, however, clarified that appointments within the current governance framework are guided by the political party system and established government procedures.

“He clarified that the current governance arrangement is based on a political party system, where political appointments are made through recommendations from the respective political parties,” the statement said.

Lobong further advised individuals interested in the position of Chief Administrator to seek nomination and endorsement through their respective political parties, emphasizing that due process would be followed in all appointments.

“The Governor advised aspiring candidates for the position of Chief Administrator to seek endorsement through their political parties, emphasizing that all appointments would be guided by due process and the established procedures of government,” the statement added.

The governor also appealed to young people in the area to remain united and peaceful, urging them to continue supporting government initiatives aimed at promoting stability, development, and good governance across Eastern Equatoria State.

“Governor Lobong further urged the youth to remain united and peaceful while continuing to support government efforts aimed at fostering stability, development, and good governance across Eastern Equatoria State,” the statement said.

The meeting concluded with both parties reaffirming their commitment to strengthening cooperation between the government and local communities to ensure that the re-establishment of the Kimotong Local Government Administrative Area translates into tangible benefits for residents.

The restoration of the administrative area is expected to enhance local administration and bring government services closer to communities in Kimotong, while also addressing longstanding calls for greater local representation and development.
