JUBA – The deputy South Sudan minister of interior Mabior Garang de’Mabior has said that he is resigning from the R-TGoNU to protest President Salva Kiir’s unwillingness to implement the provisions of the revitalized peace agreement.

Mabior Garang de’Mabior who is the chairperson of information committee of the SPLM-IO led by First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar has on several occasions criticized Kiir’s unwillingness to adhere to peace implementation.

In a letter dated June 3rd 2020, Mabior rendered – to Machar – his “formal resignation from the Revitalized Transitional Government of National Unity (R-TGONU).”

“It has become abundantly clear that our partners in peace – the SPLM/SPLA (IG) – have no intention of implementing the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in South Sudan (R-ARCSS), the only way we can restore some semblance of sanity to our nascent Republic,” Mabior Garang de’Mabior said.

The senior opposition official who is also the SPLM-IO chairperson of National Committee for Information and Public Relations said he will not however resign from the group because there were a lot to achieve in the movement.

“However, it has become abundantly clear that our partners in peace – the SPLM/SPLA (IG) – have no intention of implementing the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in South Sudan (R-ARCSS), the only way we can restore some semblance of sanity to our nascent Republic,” Mabior Garang de’Mabior said.

“I shall remain a member of our peoples’ struggle until we achieve our objective of bringing about fundamental change in our country.

“I shall be ready for any other project – which promotes the welfare and prosperity of our civil population – assigned to me by the peoples’ Movement, and shall continue to serve with the countless committed cadres who were not appointed to any constitutional position.”
