
JUBA-MTN South Sudan, a prominent mobile telecommunications provider, and the South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) on Monday inked a three-year partnership agreement worth 300,000 U.S. dollars to boost football in Africa’s youngest nation.
The deal was announced at a signing ceremony held in Juba on Monday between Mr. Augustino Maduot, President of SSFA, and Mr. Ali Monzer, CEO of MTN South Sudan.
Speaking at a signing ceremony in Juba on Monday, Ali Monzer, Chief Executive Officer of MTN South Sudan, said the agreement was intended to advance and enhance the nation’s Premier League.
“This partnership marks a new dawn for South Sudan, celebrating our rich talent and the transformative power of sports,” said Ali.
Ali reiterated MTN’s commitment to helping out local projects in order to give the athletes the tools they need to succeed.
For his part, Mr. Augustino Maduot, President of SSFA, thanked MTN South Sudan for its dedication to developing football talent and national cohesion.
“We express gratitude to MTN for its pivotal role in establishing our first-ever Premier League, emphasizing its importance for the growth of football in our country,” said Maduot.
Mr. Robert Zechariah, the SSFA Chairperson for the Investment and Marketing Committee, commended the SSFA leadership for their efforts in launching the Premier League.
He expressed his sincere gratitude to MTN for their steadfast assistance, which is essential to advancing sports in South Sudan.
He urged MTN and other supporters to make investments in the upcoming Women’s Premier League, saying the launch is in line with SSFA’s strategic strategy to boost local player involvement.
