Addressing thousands of residents gathered at Kuajok Freedom Square on Saturday, Kiir thanked the people of Warrap for the warm reception accorded to him during his visit.
The rally attracted traditional leaders, women, youth groups, state officials, and community representatives who turned out in large numbers to welcome the Head of State.
“I am happy to be here and to speak to you today,” President Kiir told the crowd. “As I said yesterday, my visit is a private one, but I am pleased to see all of you gathered here. I have listened to your concerns, and I have heard your voices.”
During his address, the president reaffirmed his government’s commitment to peace, stability, and the full implementation of the revitalized peace agreement, which remains the cornerstone of South Sudan’s transition process.
Kiir’s visit to Warrap comes at a time when parts of the state are grappling with recurring communal violence and insecurity. Recent deadly clashes, particularly between communities in Tonj North and Tonj South counties, have raised concerns over the security situation in the state.
The president left Juba on Friday for what officials described as a visit to his home region in Greater Bahr el Ghazal. Before arriving in Kuajok, he made his first stop in the state capital of Wau, where he addressed residents and received a large public reception.
His regional tour is expected to continue to Akon before proceeding to Aweil.
The rare tour has drawn significant public attention as residents across the Greater Bahr el Ghazal region use the opportunity to present their concerns directly to the president amid ongoing economic and security challenges facing the country.
