AWEIL-Police of South Sudan’ Northern Bahr El Ghazal State have arrested four suspects linked to the murder of a 22-year-old man in Aweil Town.
The deceased was fatally stabbed by the suspects over the weekend in Aweil town. After killing him, they then disposed of his body in a nearby forest along the terrain path.
According to a local eyewitness who spoke to this media, on Tuesday, a group of young teenagers who identified themselves as “niggers” killed the 22-year-old victim.
She said they committed the crime under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
She said they stabbed the man to death while returning home from Aweil Town, near the home of Deng Nhial.
“These boys are ones among those in a mafia or group of criminals. They loiter at night here, and their dressing style is unique, and they are identifiable altogether. It is said that they kill the innocent young man, Buoi,” an eyewitness told Sudans Post on Tuesday.
Thomas Wani, the Northern Bahr El Gazal state police commissioner, stated that they deployed detectives to the locations right away to investigate the problem after getting the report on Saturday.
“We received the report on Saturday, and we sent the officers to the sites on the same day till there were 4 suspects apprehended. These suspects are now behind bars and will be arraigned in court,” he asserted.
He said that there has been a rise in the state’s youth involvement in drug and gang-related criminal activity.
“The post mortem results show that the deceased died from serious knife injuries, and we suspect that the boys acted under the drug’s effectiveness or severity after inhaling them,” he said.
He called on the members of the public to share information with security services in order to aid them in fighting crime.
“We want the public to be cooperative and give a helping hand to the security or law enforcement agencies and act as key informers in relation to matters that concern them regarding insecurity.”
The economic downturn and instances of criminals using drugs, such as tramadol, which the government previously enforced to outlaw, are among the issues facing the state administration.
