
Speaking in Juba on Wednesday ahead of the national celebrations, General Lom stated that police and other security agencies have implemented comprehensive security measures and are fully prepared to protect citizens and maintain law and order throughout the festivities.
“We are ready and have made preparations at the level of states and administrative areas. The police forces and other security agencies are prepared to provide protection for the celebration and to address any challenges that may arise during or after the Independence Day celebration,” he said.
Gen.Lom urged the public to celebrate peacefully, remain vigilant, and report any suspicious incidents to the nearest police station or security sector across the country.
Gen. Lom revealed that the South Sudan National Police Service has deployed forces to strategic locations across the 10 states and three administrative areas to ensure the safety of civilians and their properties.
“We will closely monitor young people; in a gathering of 15 people, we will have at least four or five security agents. We have deployed forces to strategic locations, including public gathering areas and marketplaces. We have deployed forces to all places where we suspect problems may arise. We will secure streets, roundabouts, and residential areas,” he said.
