JUBA – South Sudan army soldiers have gone on protest over the delayment of their salaries and have threatened to take further actions if government fail to deliver their money in a two weeks time.

The soldiers fired shots into the air in Pochala county of Greater Jonglei resulting into panic among the civil population but no casualties were reported.

“The shooting started at 7 am and continued until 10 am. The reason is because they have (South Sudan army soldiers) gone unpaid for several months. They said they only work on farmlands and sale firewood to survive,” Ochudho Ochan, the acting county commissioner for Pochala was quoted by Radio Tamazuj.

“We are scared. We have run to the bush because we don’t know what is happening,” a local resident.
