Akuei Abram, the chairperson of the Independent Electoral Committee (IEC), declared that Daniel, formerly the head of Nimule freight station, won the presidency with 23 votes, defeating Jacob Mayom from Nadapal station.
Mawa Moses, who was initially disqualified but allowed to contest after an appeal, won the position of executive officer with 17 votes, defeating Aligo Ezbon. Majok Malou secured the position of Secretary of Finance, defeating Kuot Hassan with 17 votes.
To be eligible, contestants were required to be a clearing agent with valid documents or a freight forwarder with valid association membership.
Additionally, candidates for president were required to hold a bachelor’s degree, while those vying for executive officer and Secretary of Finance needed a diploma.
A total of 30 senators, representing various stations including Juba International Airport, Nadapal, Wau, Nimule, Kaya, and Nesitu, voted in the election.
The SSFFA, legally registered in 2018, represents over 200 customs clearance agencies.
The association plays a crucial role in facilitating smooth cross-border movement of goods, enhancing freight forwarding efficiency, and making commodities more accessible and affordable for the population.
