JUBA – South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit has fired his long-time ally, Mayiik Ayii Deng as the country’s presidential affairs minister, according to a decree read on the state television on Tuesday.
In a separate decree, the Kiir appointed another long-time ally and former foreign minister, Nhial Deng Nhial, as the new minister in the office of the president.
The decree did not however outlined why Mayiik was removed as he was the first minister to be appointed in the revitalized transitional government of national unity.
