YAMBIO— Western Equatoria State Governor Daniel Badagbu Rimbasa has reaffirmed the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) and the National Agenda Coalition (NAC) have agreed to adopt a joint coordination strategy as part of efforts to align their political activities ahead of the upcoming elections.
The reaffirmation came during a high-level meeting held at the SPLM State Secretariat in Yambio on Friday.
The meeting brought together SPLM leadership and representatives of the National Agenda, a coalition of five political parties operating within the state’s political framework.
Governor Rimbasa described the meeting as fruitful and constructive, noting that it focused on strengthening cooperation between the two sides and consolidating political unity.
“We have had a very fruitful meeting with our brothers from the National Agenda. Today, we reaffirm our support for one another and our commitment to working together to strengthen a solid alliance,” Rimbasa said.
Rimbasa emphasized that the partnership is anchored on shared political objectives aimed at promoting peace, unity, and development across Western Equatoria State.
He further stressed that the SPLM, as the ruling party in the state, carries the responsibility of ensuring tangible progress in service delivery and peacebuilding.
“The state is now under the leadership of the SPLM, and we must work hard to bring peace, unity, and prosperity so that our people can see the impact of this leadership,” he said.
The meeting resolved to strengthen cooperation through the establishment of a joint coordination committee between the SPLM and the National Agenda coalition.
He said the committee will be responsible for coordinating dialogue, organizing a regular meeting, and streamlining communication between the two sides.
He said they will also guide joint political and development initiatives, emphasizing the importance of unity and coordination to ensure a more organized and effective political process.
He said the committee is expected to hold regular engagements, including monthly meetings, to discuss political developments, election preparedness, and community cohesion.
“For us to succeed in the elections, we must begin preparations now by strengthening our political parties, partnerships, and coalitions so that we move forward together,” he said.
Speaking on behalf of the coalition, Victor James Ndukpo said the meeting marked a significant step in revitalizing cooperation under the leadership of Governor Rimbasa.
He noted that the primary outcome was the decision to reconstitute and strengthen the joint coordination committee.
“We have come together as one body to strengthen our cooperation and advance messages of peace, unity, and prosperity,” Ndukpo said.
Both sides underscored the importance of unity and political cooperation ahead of the elections.
Governor Rimbasa concluded by thanking the delegation and reaffirmed continued engagement aimed at improving governance and the welfare of citizens in Western Equatoria State.
