PORT SUDAN – Dr. Kamil Idris, serving as Prime Minster for the de facto government operating out of Port Sudan, has emphatically affirmed his administration’s deep commitment to strengthening its ties with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He highlighted the profound and enduring historical connections that bind the two nations.

These bonds, he emphasized, are deeply rooted in shared vital issues, mutual strategic interests, and common concerns that have long defined their relationship. This underscores a foundational partnership built on a history of reciprocal understanding and collaborative endeavors.

This crucial declaration came during a high-level meeting on Monday at Idris’s office in Port Sudan, the PM formally hosted Saudi Ambassador to Sudan, Ali bin Hassan Jaafar, a meeting that itself signifies the ongoing diplomatic engagement between the leadership in Port Sudan and a key regional power.

During their discussions, the PM utilized the direct diplomatic channel to convey his government’s robust readiness and genuine eagerness to further culativate and expand its relationship with the Kingdom. This signals a clear intent to deepen cooperation across multiple sectors of mutual benefit.

In a comprehensive press statement delivered to reporters following the substantive diplomatic encounter, Ambassador Jaafar unequivocally underscores Saudi Arabia’s firm and unwavering support for Sudan. “We affirmed our support for the Prime Minister and the Kingdom’s readiness to provide everything possible to contribute to the success of his programs,” he stated, highlighting a commitment to practical assistance and backing for the new administration agenda.

The Ambassador elaborated that their extensive discussions encompassed various critical aspects of the existing bilateral relationship, affirming the breadth and depth of their dialogue. He further noted that the PM conveyed his profound appreciation for the Kingdom’s consistently supportive stance toward Sudan and its resilient people, acknowledging its crucial role in fostering stability and cooperation in the region.

The Saudi Ambassador revealed that numerous pressing topics are firmly on the agenda for bilateral relations between the two nations, with economic and development cooperation standing out as a paramount priority. This focus reflects a shared understanding of the importance of economic stability and growth for both countries.

Furthermore, the Ambassador disclosed a significant humanitarian and developmental initiatives that underscores Saudi Arabia’s immediate concern for Sudan’s well-being: during the holy month of Ramadan, the Kingdom formed a dedicated committee. Chaired by the Saudi Ambassador to Sudan, this committee’s explicit mandate is to meticulously discuss and formulate emergency project specifically aimed at providing crucial, timely assistance to Sudan. He indicated that the vital outcomes and detailed plans emanating from this committee’s important deliberation would be officially published and made accessible to the public in the very near future, singling concrete steps toward tangible support.
