JUBA-The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) on Monday donated food items to 250 South Sudanese orphans in Juba.
The food package included sugar, maize flour, AZAM flour, rice, lentils, beans, and 500 liters of cooking oil.
Turkish Ambassador to South Sudan AMB. Metin Ergin said they will always be there for the people of South Sudan.
“As the Turkish government, we are trying to contribute very humbly, and we appreciate the Foundation’s acceptance of our support,” Ergin said during the handing of the food items on Monday in the capital, Juba.
Ergin reaffirmed their government’s commitment to strengthen bilateral ties with South Sudan, and
Sheikh Juma Saeed Ali, the director of the Sheikh Dafallah Abbas Foundation, appreciated the support given to them by the Turkish government in this difficult time.
Juma said that most of the children who are in the center are orphans and children from poor families, and getting food for them is not easy.
“This center was established since 1980, but then it was established for the vulnerable people who had no power to continue their schools,” he said.
“Something like that. Until today, we continue here, and our role is that we bring the orphans and those people who are from poor families; we put them here in our dormitory, and then we start to teach them.”
