John Mabil Alier, who represents Baidit Payam in the state assembly, condemned what he described as a “brutal attack” carried out by suspected attackers from the Greater Pibor Administrative Area (GPAA). The incident occurred on February 28, 2026.
The victims were identified as Nyok Kuch and Ajok Goi Anyang, both from the Angakuei community. According to Alier, the two were killed during a violent raid on the cattle camp.
“I am deeply shaken and heartbroken by the news of the brutal attack on Pacho cattle camp,” Mabil said. “My heart goes out to the families who are now grieving the senseless loss of their loved ones.”
The lawmaker expressed solidarity with the bereaved families and the wider Bor community, saying the entire Baidit constituency stands with them during the difficult time.
He described the killings as a devastating setback to ongoing efforts aimed at fostering peaceful coexistence among neighbouring communities.
“It is painfully clear that these recurring criminal behaviours are a primary poison hindering our path toward peaceful coexistence as sisterly communities,” he said. “We cannot build a prosperous nation on ground stained by the blood of innocents.”
Mabil called upon the authorities in the Greater Pibor Administrative Area to take swift and decisive action to identify and apprehend those responsible for the attack.
He stressed that accountability is non-negotiable and urged the government to ensure the perpetrators face the full weight of the law.
“Peace without justice is merely a pause in conflict,” he stated. “The perpetrators of the Pacho cattle camp attack must face justice to deter future bloodshed.”
While condemning the violence, the MP also urged communities to prioritise the rule of law over revenge, emphasising that lasting peace can only be achieved through justice and mutual respect.
The attack adds to a series of inter-communal clashes that have affected parts of Jonglei State and neighbouring administrative areas in recent months, raising renewed concerns over security and civilian protection in rural communities.
