JUBA – South Sudan’s vice-president Taban Deng Gai will nominate the governor for unity state where he previously served at the same capacity prior to the outbreak of the South Sudanese civil war in December 2013, according to a senior government official.

The official who spoke to Sudans Post last evening said on condition of anonymity that Deng had met President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Wednesday evening, immediately, or a few hours after a deal on the allocation of the states was announced between Kiir and First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar.

“The Vice-President of the Republic of South Sudan H.E Taban Deng Gai Reer has made a deal with the President of the Republic,” the official said.

“The deal is that he has been offered by the president to appoint a governor for Unity state. And that is all. What I will add is that the vice-president has his nominee at hand and will be presented to the present anytime tomorrow (Saturday),” the official added.

Sudans Post could not however confirm the authenticity because Taban has previously joined the SPLM-IG under President Salva Kiir, making it difficult for him to nominate governors that are on the ticked of the SPLM.

This could be a brilliant decision from H.E the President if he Really Authorized Vp Taban Deng Gai to nominate a Governor for Unity state, because he Deng has served several times as a Governor of the said State.
He has more knowledge about what should be done in a state in order for Bentiu Communities to come together as one family after being subjected due to the Conflict.
