KUAJOK- Warrap State Governor Bol Wek Agoth has donated $1,000 to support a victim injured in a recent fuel tanker explosion in Gogrial West County, in a gesture aimed at easing the burden of medical care and recovery.

The incident, which occurred in Gotdior, Gogrial West County, on April 10, left 6 people dead, including a driver, and five others injured after a fuel tanker overturned and exploded.

Makor Mangok Kuot, Press Secretary in the Office of the Governor of Warrap State, said the governor’s contribution reflects the government’s commitment to stand with affected families during times of crisis.

“During a consolation meeting that was conducted today for the fire victims by Hon. Victor Wek Koor, the commissioner of Gogrial West County, Amb. Bol Wek Agoth, the governor of Warrap State, delivered financial assistance amounting to 5,000,000 SSP, equivalent to 1,000 USD, to support victims of the explosion,” Mangok said in a statement issued on Monday.

He said the victims who sustained serious injuries are currently receiving treatment at a hospital in the state.

“It is with utmost pleasure to share with the public important updates relating to the recent tragic incident that occurred in Warrap State, including the fuel tanker explosion in Gotdior, Gogrial West County, and the loss of innocent civilian lives during the Panhom-Ker attack by armed SPLM-IO dissidents and armed youth on Gogrial youth in Gogrial East County.”

He said one victim succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment at the hospital, bringing the death toll to 7.

“Reports indicate that those who sustained injuries during the explosion are responding well to treatment, except one individual who succumbed to injuries, bringing the death toll to seven,” he said.

Mangok said the Warrap State government also delivered a consignment of medicines to Gogrial East County to support victims of recent armed attacks in the area.

“The medicines were donated by Awan Riau Community and are due for distribution by the Hon. Santino Madut Awe, the commissioner of Gogrial East County,” he said.

“Governor Agoth assures the people of Warrap State that we may not have power to choose our misfortune, but we definitely have power to overcome those misfortunes through our determined spirits and our collective unity.”
