Governor Badagbu issued what his office described as a third appeal on Monday while presiding over the promotion ceremony of 71 National Civil Defence Forces personnel in Yambio.
According to the governor’s office, about 1,280 former SPLM-IO members who joined the SSPDF last year are expected to report to facilitate their formal integration into the national army.
He urged those who are still carrying weapons or have yet to present themselves to report to the SSPDF barracks in Yambio for registration and completion of the integration procedures.
“I don’t want to hear gunshots, and I don’t want to hear that you have missed being integrated. Please report yourselves,” Badagbu said.
The governor also called on armed groups in the state to end hostilities, surrender their weapons through official channels, and support ongoing efforts to restore peace and stability in Western Equatoria.
“Western Equatoria is for peace now. Let us unite and work together,” he added.
The renewed directive comes as state authorities seek to complete the integration of former opposition fighters who defected to government forces, a process viewed as part of broader efforts to stabilise Western Equatoria following years of insecurity.
The promotion ceremony for the 71 National Civil Defence Forces personnel was also presented by the governor’s office as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the state’s security institutions.
Governor Badagbu reiterated his administration’s commitment to promoting peace, reconciliation, social cohesion, and cooperation between communities and security forces, saying the government remains focused on restoring stability and rebuilding public confidence across the state.
