1 dead, 2 injured as suspected Ruweng gunmen attack Rubkona

JUBA – At least one person has been killed and two others have been wounded after gunmen suspected to have come from neighboring Ruweng Administrative Area (RAA) launched an attacked on a cattle camp belonging to Rubkona herders at Payangay.

Koang Bol, the press secretary for Rubkona County Commissioner told Sudans Post in an interview this morning that the attack took place during the early hours of Friday resulting in the killing of at least one person and the wounding of two others.

“A group of unknown gunmen we suspect to have come from Ruweng administrative area attacked one cattle camp and exchanged fire with the [Rubkona] herders where two people [were] injured and one [other] died,” he said.

The senior local government official further said the government of the oil-rich Rubkona County is calling on the government of Ruweng Administrative Area (RAA) to bring to book those behind the attack in order to preserve peace between the two people.

“The commissioner calls on the authorities of RAA to apprehend those criminals and bring them to book,” he said.
