24 people killed in latest Lakes state violence

At least twenty-four (24) people have been killed in an attack in South Sudan's restive Lakes state, according to the state police spokesman Elijah Mabor Makuac.

RUMBEK – At least twenty-four (24) people have been killed in an attack in South Sudan’s restive Lakes state, according to the state police spokesman Elijah Mabor Makuac.

According to Makuac also eight other people were injured when a group of armed men from Pakam community attacked members of Gok community at Ngop cattle camp on Tuesday.

“The attacked happened on Tuesday and it was carried out by armed youth from Pakam community,” Makuac told Sudans Post.

“Now the authorities are working to calm down the situation so that there is no further attacks of revenge,” he added.

Lakes state has been in intercommunal violence with authorities failing to arrest the situation.
