JUBA – At least three fuel tankers dispatched by South Sudan government in Juba to help agricultural production in Northern Bahr el Ghazal state have arrived in Aweil, according to a press statement issued by the state government raising hopes for revival of food production for the starving Northern Bahr el Ghazal people.
“Wednesday 17th of June 2021, the Government of Northern Bahr El Ghazal State under the able leadership of Honorable Tong Akeen Ngor received three large tanks of fuel which were donated by the National Government for the State Ministry of Agriculture, Environment and Forestry,” the government statement seen by Sudans Post reads in part.
The fuel supply, the statement noted, was provided by Rantoch General Trading Co. LTD, a Juba-based business company, and added that the donation was made by the national government in order “to support the farming activities in the State especially, the government rice schemes.”
According to the statement, Northern Bahr el Ghazal state governor Tong Aken Ngor had “promised to support the agriculture[al] activities in the State.” The government is also encouraging “each and every household to fully engage in cultivation such that to alleviate foods inadequacy in Northern Bahr El Ghazal State in particular and South Sudan in general.”
