RUMBEK – A road accident at Pircok Boma, Genggeng Payam of Yirol West County in Lakes State has resulted in three deaths and four injuries, according to local authorities.

Lakes State police spokesman Maj. Elijah Mabor Makuac told Sudans Post that the incident, which involved a commercial vehicle traveling from Wau in Western Bahr el Ghazal State to Juba occurred on Wednesday morning.

“We registered that a commercial vehicle traveling from Wau going to Juba has overturned at a place called Pircok in Yirol West County, leading to the killings of three people and four others wounded,” Makuac said.

The injured have been admitted to Yirol Civil Hospital for treatment. The driver of the vehicle has been arrested, and an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident.

“According to information from witnesses, the cause of [the] overturned [vehicle] was over speeding. The way and the road are very dusty, and you know very well the road is built very high,” Makuac said.

“Whenever the vehicle loses its way, immediately it is very simple to overturn because the road was built very tall,” he added.
