JUBA – Three Sudanese traders have been arrested for allegedly rapping to death a 6-years-old girl in Aweil town of Northern Bahr el Ghazal State in South Sudan on Thursday, according to senior government official.

On 3rd May, 2022, a 42-years-old Sudanese trader, Saber Abusam reportedly deified and murdered 6-years-old girl, Abuk Lual Lual and dumped her body in a pit latrine.

William Anyuon Kuol, Northern Bahr el Ghazal State Minister of Information said the police have apprehended three suspects.

“The three accused have been arrested and investigations are underway. We urged youth to remain calm and allow the due process of the law to take its course,” Kuol said in a statement extended to Sudans Post on Thursday.

Kuol appealed for calm and advised the public treat incident as individual act.

“As government, we would like to appeal to the general public to maintain calm and treat this incident as individual act but not an organized plan by Sudanese traders in Northern Bahr el Ghazal State,” Kuol said.

“As we mourn the painful death of our sister and daughter, let us all pray for her family and all those who are grieving presently for God then solace to withstand this immense loss,” Kuol added.

The state government of Northern Bahr el Ghazal State has slammed this disheartening and horrible act in strongest term possible, he said.

“Following tragic, disheartening and shocking news, the angry youth rioted and attempted to target Sudanese businessmen in the market. This was quickly contained by security forces and a situation was brought under control,” he said.

Saber is believed to have rented a room within the compound the deceased, according to the mother of late 6 year old, Abuk Lual Lual.

She said Saber came back home early at around 5PM and found her child playing in the compound and called her inside his room where he managed to execute his horrible and inhuman.

She added that this is not the first time for Saber to behave in manner that is inconsistent with the law. He had attempted to rape minors in three separate occasions.
