JUBA – At least three fuel trucks have been burned to ashes after a fuel depot in South Sudan capital Juba’s Kor William neighborhood caught fire, according to Central Equatoria state director of civil defense Maj. Gen. Pascal Lado Matias.
According to the senior civil defense officer, the incident occurred on Tuesday evening when Sebele fuel depot caught fire sparking panic among the civil population in the area.
“The incident occurred last evening, I mean on Tuesday evening. The fuel depot caught fire and this raised fear among the civil population and thank God that our men were able to dismantle he fire outbreak,” he said.
General Matias said the fire fighters were able to contain the outbreak after two hours of struggle and the loses include three fuel truck which were parked at the depot and two fuel storage facilities.
“The firefighters didn’t take much time before arriving at the scene and immediately they started the process of containing the fire and eventually after two hours, they successfully completed the process,” he said.
“On three fuel truck which were parked there and two fuel storage facilities were destroyed by the fire,” he said, adding that “no one was hurt in the incident and the authorities have begun the investigation.”
