4 killed as gunmen open fire on vehicle along Juba-Bor highway

JUBA, APRIL 13, 2023 (SUDANS POST) – At least four people were killed, and three others wounded when suspected Mundari men from Terekeka County of Central Equatoria State opened fire on a passenger vehicle along the Juba-Bor highway on Tuesday, according to a statement government official.

Samuel Ateny Pech, newly appointed Bor County Commissioner, told Sudans Post that the incidents occurred when commercial vehicles enroute to Juba was attacked near Mangala Payam of Central Equatoria.

“Yesterday (Tuesday) there were four people killed and wounded is about three. The attackers are Mundari, the commissioner of Terekeka County confirmed that these Mundari who attacked,” Ateny he said on Wednesday.

He said the highway linking Bor town in Jonglei State to the capital Juba has been closed following the incident of Tuesday.

“I talked to Terekeka County Commissioner regarding these issues, and he told me that he has sent his delegation to the designation yesterday and this morning after the road is blocked and even the vehicles of ARC are not moving and the vehicles of NGO are also not moving,” said Ateny.

For his part, Warnyang Buyi, Terekeka County Commissioner, said he has sent security organs to the crime scene to investigate the incident.

“I didn’t go yesterday to Eastern bank side, I sent the security coordinator and one of our military intelligent officers and CID to go and see the situation there,” said Buyi.
