JUBA — At least nine (9) people have been killed and an unknown number is injured in separate attacks by suspected armed criminals from neighboring Greater Pibor Administrative Area (GPAA) against Dengjok Payan of Akobo County in Jonglei state.

Jonglei state police commissioner General Joseph Mayen Akoon, said one person who sustain gunshot was in a very critical condition at a local medical facility.

The senior law enforcement official said the attacks, all of whom heavily armed, were repulsed following hours of fighting that also involved the authorities.

“There are two from the side of the criminals who were killed, and one of the residents in Jonglei was hit in the stomach and the bullet did not come out, so his situation was very serious yesterday,” Akoon said, according to the City Review.

“Before yesterday (Thursday), seven people were killed along the road, in a place called Wichbat, but the network is also very poor in those areas,’’ he concluded.
