TORIT – The leadership of South Sudan’s Acholi Community and sub-clan leaders are preparing to hold a community peace conference from October 28 to 31 in Magwi Town, Eastern Equatoria State.

The conference, organized with financial support from the Japanese government through UNDP, aims to foster peace, development, and community cohesion among the Acholi people.

In a letter dated September 24, Acholi Community Chairperson Hon. Otim David Okot invited sub-clan chiefs to the conference, themed “Harnessing synergy for sustained peace, development, and community cohesion.”

The conference will bring together political representatives, government officials, local leaders, and other stakeholders for constructive dialogue and conflict analysis.

The goal is to generate shared understanding and unity of purpose on Acholi community development concerns and to create actionable recommendations for sustainable development and cohesion.

The conference will also establish a mutual code of conduct for Acholi political and community leadership.
