JUBA – Prominent activist Edmund Yakani has appealed to South Sudan governors and chief administrators of the administrative areas to effectively implement the resolutions of the 6th Governors Forum which concluded in Juba yesterday.

Among the resolutions was for the governments in the state to support the national government in resolving intercommunal violence and to also abide by the implementation process of the revitalized peace agreement.

In a statement, Yakani who is the Executive Director of Community Empowerment for Progress Organization (CEPO) welcomed the resolutions of the conference and said the resolutions have addressed concerns raised by CEPO for the previous forum.

“CEPO welcomes the resolutions of the 6th Governor s forum that were concluded today in juba in the freedom hall. The resolutions responded well to our calls we made in our report on the evaluations of the 5th Governors forum resolutions,” he said.

“The 6th Governors forum resolutions were good if they are implemented effectively. The president directives for the minister of finance to allocate funds for the implementation of the 6th Governors forum resolutions is well and it is respected,” he stressed.

While commending the president for responding to the CEPO’s calls for genuine implementation of the resolutions of the Governors’ Forum, Yakani said the civil society watchdog will track the implementation of the resolution and will also support the government in the matter.

“The president strong call for the implementation for the 6th Governors forum resolutions was good and positive responses to our advocacy through our observation reported issued on the implementation forum the 5th Governors forum resolutions,” he said.

“Finally, CEPO will be regularly tracking the implementation of the 6th Governors forum resolutions including supporting dissemination and implementation,” he added.
