KHARTOUM, MAY 22, 2023 (SUDANS POST) – The President of Sudan’s Transitional Sovereign Council and head of the Sudanese army General Abdelfattah al-Burhan has dispatched Malek Agar, his deputy and chair of SPLM-North (Agar faction) to Juba to meet President Salva Kiir.
A senior foreign ministry official who spoke to Sudans Post this morning said Agar, who was appointed to replace RSF commander Mohamed Hamdan Daglo as deputy president of the Transitional Sovereign Council on Friday, will discuss bilateral ties with Kiir and ways to bring the conflict to an end.
“The commander in chief has sent Malik Agar to meet President Salva Kiir of the state of South Sudan and they will discuss how to achieve peace in Sudan, but without compromising the sovereignty of the state of Sudan,” said the official on condition of anonymity.
The two leaders are expected to discuss a range of issues, including the security situation in Sudan following the outbreak of violence last month. They will also discuss bilateral relations in light of Sudan anger of hosting of RSF envoy by the South Sudan government.
“He will hold talks with President Salva on Monday and he will convey the message of the Sudanese government to the government of South Sudan on how to achieve peace in Sudan and how to maintain our relations,” the official added.
