KHARTOUM, MAY 19, 2023 (SUDANS POST) — The chair of Sudan’s Transitional Sovereign Council Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan on Friday sacked RSF leader Mohamed Hamadan Daglo (Hemedti) as deputy head of the council.
In a statement, the Sudanese army said the decision by Al-Burhan – who is also the commander in chief of the armed forces – is effective from today May 19, 2023.
“Today, the President of the Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, issued a constitutional decree relieving the Vice-President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Muhammad Hamdan Dagalo, from his post, as of today, May 19, 2023,” it said.
“His Excellency directed the General Secretariat of the Sovereignty Council and the concerned state authorities to put this constitutional decree into effect,” it added.
In a separate statement, the army announced that Al-Burhan has named Malik Agar, the chair of the SPLM-North (Agar) as an acting deputy chair for the council, effective immediately.
“Today, the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, issued a constitutional decree assigning Malik Aqar to the position of Vice President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, starting today, May 19, 2023,” the statement said.
“His Excellency directed the General Secretariat of the Sovereignty Council and the concerned state authorities to put this constitutional decree into effect,” it added.
