JUBA – South Sudan’s defense minister Angelina Teny is in the Rwandan capital Kigali where he along with a huge delegation, is participating in a post-conflict peacebuilding workshop organized by the Rwandan government, according to a statement by the ministry of defense.
According to the statement extended to Sudans Post, 25 senior military and police officers drawn from South Sudan parties to the revitalized peace agreement are taking part in the workshop.
“The Minister of Defence and Veterans’ Affairs, Hon. Angelina Teny traveled to Kigali-Rwanda accompanying twenty five (25) Senior Military and Police officers who were selected by the Joint Defense Board for post-conflict peacebuilding and reconstruction course in Rwanda Peace Academy,” the statement reads in part.
The statement also added that Teny who is the first female defense minister in the country visited genocide memorial center on Sunday and witnessed on Monday the opening of the training by her Rwandan counterpart Albert Murasira.
“Hon. Teny visited Genocide Memorial center on 2/05/2021 to pay respect to the victims of genocide whose blood brought about unity and development in Rwanda,” the statement said.
On 3/05/2021, Hon. Angelina Teny witnessed the official opening of the training by her Rwandan Counterpart Maj. Gen. Albert Murasira where she actively participated in attending the sessions and also giving constructive inputs where necessary,” the statement said.
It further said that the “training is also a process of unification of command where trainees are equipping with knowledge of commanding the Unified forces with the spirit of peace and development.”
