JUBA – South Sudanese lawyer and husband of Achai Wiir, a Juba-based philanthropist, Deng Ajak, has accused some artists including Angelo Kiir, of attempting to kill him over dispute against his wife, days following his release from jail after a Juba court found no evidence to back up claims by Ms. Achai that he stolen her properties.

Sudans Post in June last year reported that the businesswoman had contacted some artists to have the husband dead. Because we could not reach Ajak and a complaint from Achai herself, we decided to dismiss the story.

Ajak was arrested on October 2nd 2020 when his wife opened a court case in which she accused the lawyer of stealing her properties. He was released after almost eight months in jail on May 11, 2021 for lack of evidence.

Speaking to Sudans Post in an exclusive interview on Friday, Ajak said he was released from jail because his wife failed to provide evidences requested by the court to support her claims also stressed that the philanthropist remains his wife despite the quarrel.

“What happened is that she accused me falsely on the grounds that I took her properties. But in fact, nothing I have ever taken from her. It is just delusions of defense, which are revenge and the goal of defamation so that she can convince her family that I am a criminal and so that she can get divorced purposely to only cause unnecessary problems,” Ajak told Sudans Post from Juba.

“The court ruled that I am innocent due to lack of evidence, because she was not able to prove her claims before the court. There is no evidence, whether documents or witnesses, to prove my guilt,” he added.

Ajak added “the court found a game in which everyone who has his/her own interest took part in destroying my honorable family.”

“Although I have the right to file a law suit for being a victim of false and insulting detention and court case against her, I didn’t do that due to social factors on the basis of parents from one region,” says Ajak.

The lawyer further accused Angelo Kiir, a South Sudanese artist who was involved in the quarrel over his wife, of being the cause of the family unrest.

He said he decided to take Angelo to jail, but later on decided to resolve the matter at the family level and Angelo was released after he confessed to having an affair with Ms. Achai and then promised to stay away from her.

“Angelo Kiir is the cause of the problems. Angelo and some artists tried to kill me because he wanted to take my wife. After learning this, Angelo was arrested and put in jail because of this reason,” he asserted.

“After I learned that the cause for the attempted murder on my life was a result of marriage betrayal and cheating, I decided to make a solution by convening a meeting of my family, my wife’s family and Angelo Kiir’s family with present of community elders and Sultans from out area,” he said.

“During the discussion, Angelo confessed to having affairs with my wife in present of security members. Angelo said that my wife was the one who seduced him into having affair with her. After saying that, he was verbally attacked by the two families and Angelo apologized to the families and said he will from that day be away from my wife.

“After we wrote the conditions in a legal document in front of the two family and national security officers, we told Angelo Kiir that if he tried to come to my wife again, he would bear the consequences.”

He said that the reasons of his arrest by his wife was not actually because of any property stolen, but to make revenge because of the admission by Angelo Kiir that he had an affair with her and to prove to her family that he is a criminal and should get divorce.

“So, when Achai arrested me and took me to court on the baseless accusations that I stole her properties, she wants to prove to her family that I am a criminal purposely to convince them that she get divorced,” he said.

“The important thing is that she couldn’t be taken serious because I have no any problem with her family and to this point she is still my wife. I do not have a problem with her either. The real problem is infidelity, not property,” he added.

The two got married traditionally in 2016 and then wedded in 2018.
