JUBA – South Sudan authorities of the country’s restive Jonglei state are reporting that a medical worker has been killed in his room in the state’s Duk County days after a medical worker was killed in Akobo County.

Jonglei state Police Commissioner Major-General Joseph Mayen said Mabior Manyok Ader was found dead in his room in Duk last Monday, a few days after being arranged in customary court where he was allegedly found guilty of adultery.

General Mayen said the authorities are still investigating circumstances which led to his death and are mainly examining if he died as a result of the dispute that resulted in his sentencing to three months in jail for sleeping with someone’s wife.

“At this state in time, we are still working to find out if he died as a result of the dispute that he had with local people in Duk Padiet. So we don’t know what led into his death now,” Mayen who is currently in Juba told Sudans Post from the capital.

Mayen was working for the Médecins du Monde (Médicos del Mundo), a French medical that provides emergency and long-term medical care to people in several parts of South Sudan.
