“It is our hope and prayer that the peace announced by the Angel on that first Christmas night may fill our hearts and remove from us the spirit of violence,” Dr. Arama stated in his message delivered at a press conference in Juba on Tuesday.
“May this spirit of joy, hope, and peace carry us through the challenges we face and into the new year.”
He emphasized the importance of welcoming the newborn Savior with genuine hearts and open arms.
“The world, with its anxieties and struggles, needs a Savior now more than ever,” he declared.
“The ongoing destructive wars, the inter-communal violence within our own borders, the political uncertainties – all cry out for the transformative power of Christ,” he added.
Dr. Arama’s message resonated particularly with parents, urging them to set an example of peace and unity during this time.
“As we navigate these challenges,” he said, “let us remember the self-emptying Christ who chose vulnerability and displacement to be born among us. In his humility, he offers us a path through our own profound human struggles.”
The Archbishop’s call for peace comes at a critical time for South Sudan, a nation still grappling with the aftermath of conflict and facing ongoing humanitarian challenges.
His message serves as a powerful reminder that the spirit of Christmas transcends external struggles, offering hope and renewal even amidst hardship.
