JUBA – A local court in South Sudan’s Jonglei state has forced rough South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF) commander General Ayuen Nyok to release his in-law whom he kidnapped ten days ago.

Gen. Ayuen on September 20 kidnapped the Chairperson of Lakes State Youth Union in Juba Madhieu Marial for allegedly failing to pay bride price for her daughter whom Marial has allegedly taken without paying cows.

Speaking to the Juba-based Eye Radio, a member of the Lakes States Youth Union confirmed the charges which were later on dismissed by the court and revealed that Marial has been released from detention.

“He took the daughter of the general, and the daughter was supposed to be somebody’s wife. So, the charges were labeled against him, but were dismissed by the court,” he said.

He said Marial was released on Tuesday night and he is now free in Juba.
