JUBA – South Sudan army officer who on Monday sparked gunfire in the country’s capital Juba after resisting arrest is son of late SPLA commander Cdr. Kerbino Kuanyin Bol, a military source in Bilpam has just told Sudans Post.

On Monday afternoon, heavy gunfire was heard around Hai Cinema in Juba. This was because a then unnamed senior army officer who is accused of terrorizing civilians in Juba resisted to be arrested by members of the military intelligence and national security.

Early, a police officer told Sudans Post that the member of South Sudan People’s Defense Force (SSPDF) was eventually apprehended following minutes of gunfire exchange between him and members of the NSS and military intelligence soldiers.

Speaking to Sudans Post moments ago, a senior military officer at Bilpam who refused to be named said the military officer is Colonel Anguei Kerbino Kuanyin Bol who is better known as Robert Mike Mike who he said has been terrorizing civilians in some parts of Juba.

“The military officer is question is Anguei Kerbino Kuanyin Bol and he is widely known in Juba as Robert Mike Mike. He was being arrested and the people who were arresting him are from the police and they had arrest warrant,” the military officer said from Bilpam on phone.

“So, when the police approached him, he refused to be arrested. Then the police spoke to the army and the national security and they brought a good force and when he saw them, he fire shots against the soldiers and this is what led to the exchange of fire,” he added.

The senior army officer said the son of the late SPLA fighter “has been involved in criminal activities even using army possessions for personal gains and crimes in the city of Juba and that’s why he has been arrested.”

He further revealed that Colonel Anguei is a member of the SSPDF’s military intelligence department “and that is why the department of military intelligence had huge number of men at the scene.”
