JUBA – A soldier belonging to South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF) has been shot dead following a road ambush in an area in Budi County of Eastern Equatoria state by unidentified gunmen, authorities there have said.
Eastern Equatoria state police spokesman Major Justine Kleopus Takuru said the incident happened minutes after a vehicle left Kikilai Payam supposedly for Torit town through Ikotos County resulting in the death of the army soldier identified as Jok Okwal Dhieu.
“We got information from an eyewitness who was in the car, Warrant Officer John Tor Jok of SSPDF. He said they were going from Ikotos to Kikilai where they bought some goats and they were on their way to Torit,” Maj. Takuru said, according to Radio Tamazuj.
“But before they could even cover some distance, some people came from the bush and started spraying them with bullets. The deceased was in the car and his name is Jok Okwal Dhieu from Dinka. He was on top of the car with the goats and the bullet caught him there,” he added
He further said “The car did not stop but tried to continue moving to escape and after they covered some distance, they realized the soldier had died and we confirmed that the cause of the death was a bullet.”
For his part, Reverend Oryem Solomon Abalang, the chairperson of Eastern Equatoria State Inter-church Committee said all sectors should play a role in ending insecurity in the state.
“If all of us the church leaders, the government, other sectors play and community leaders play their roles, I think we will have a peaceful Eastern Equatoria,” Rev. Abalang said.
“But you find the things that the church will do alone neglecting the government and vice versa. The only way is to build strong partnerships. We the church are ready to teach the population on their roles,” he added.
He further said “The community leaders need to be trained because I am not very happy when money is spent on dialogues but no fruits are realized. If the government is ready to work with us we are ready to do what they want us to do.”
“Army soldier shot dead following road ambush in Eastern Equatoria”
South Sudanese shoot army down South Sudan army if really they can, because they are in authority, but they are just South Sudanese boys and girls, they didn’t come from heavens. In Eastern Equatoria, I was injured very badly at the battle of Kapoeta, in 2002. The Mundukurus (Arabs), not a single of them reached Torit, they were killed on the way, by the SPLA boys. There was no single Equatorian in my battalion then, it was just the muonyjaang/Jaangs/Jenges/Dinkas boys and a few boys from Nuba Mountains and Blue Nile boys.
*Didn’t your mother ever tells you not play with fires, because would be ‘BURNED’ should you try*
When I was injured at battle of Kapoeta, in 2002. And was taken to Lokichogio, Lupiding hospital, was better than SPLM/A field run hospitals. However, many South Sudanese whose legs were ‘saw off there, shouldn’t have their legs cut off, the students are the world and even in Nairobi were brought to and experiment how destroyed parts. The ‘ICRC’, gods help them, South Sudanese and the South Sudanese people are way way too well ahead of you. There will be no white people on this planet earth. We are Ancient Egyptians fools. Follows South Sudan and get away with it if you really can.
