JUBA, OCTOBER 20, 20203 (SUDANS POST) – The Bishop of Awerial Diocese of Episcopal Church of South Sudan, David Akau Kuol, on Wednesday said he has forgiven his enemies behind his recent troubles.
Bishop Akau made these remarks during his reception following his reinstatement at Mingkaman of Awerial County on Wednesday.
“If I have done something bad to you (the faithful) please forgive me and if you have done something bad to me, I have forgiven you,” Bishop Akau said.
“Let’s put behind the grievances that happened in the past and unit together as Christians of Awerial Diocese so that we can move our county forward.”
On October 8th, 2023, Archbishop of Episcopal Church Internal Province of Eastern Bahr el Ghazal, Alpayo Manyang Kuctil, reinstated David Akau Kuol as bishop of Awerial Diocese after the Juba County Court, dismissed the cohabitation case brought against him, citing lack of evidence.
Late Amose Awan, on 31st May 2023, filed lawsuit, accusing Bishop Akau of engaging in unlawful cohabitation with his daughter, Amer, for nearly 12 years.
As a result, Archbishop of Episcopal Church Internal Province of Eastern Bahr el Ghazal, Alpayo Manyang Kuctil, lifted Bishop Akau’s immunity, allowing him to appear before court in Juba, a case which the court dismissed.
For his Bishop Abraham Yel of Aweil Dioceses in Northern Bahr el Ghazal State said God is against removable of Bishop Akau.
“I want to tell those who want bishop to be removed stop it because God has refuses, so you have to stop fighting him,” said Yel.
He urged the faithful to stand with bishop in faith.
“If there are some people who are still planning to put bishop to shame, I want to tell you in the name of God your plan will fail and you need to stop it.”
