JUBA – South Sudan’s former ambassador to Russia Telar Riing declared his intention to join the SPLM-IO led by Dr. Riek Machar.
Telar who was also a presidential advisor said in a statement yesterday that it was difficult for him to work with President Salva Kiir and resigned from the ruling party.
“I am glad to officially write to you my intention to join SPLM–IO. This note confirms my unwavering support for your leadership,” he said in a letter addressed to Machar dated February 20.
Telar added that he was joining the SPLM-IO to carry out “reforms agenda; rule of law and good governance as envisaged in the Revitalised Agreement for the Resolution of the Conflict in South Sudan (R-ARCSS).”
Telar who was formerly a presidential advisor resigned from the ruling Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) on Tuesday because he said it was difficult to work with President Salva Kiir Mayardit.
