Central Equatoria cabinet approves SSP 20 billion supplementary budget

The extra budget was tabled by State Minister of Finance, Planning, and Investment, Viana Kukuli Aggrey during an extraordinary meeting of cabinet presided over by Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony on Thursday in Juba.

JUBA – The Central Equatoria State Cabinet on Thursday approved a supplementary budget worth 2 billion South Sudanese Pounds for the fiscal year 2023-2023 to cater for other expenses.

The extra budget was tabled by State Minister of Finance, Planning, and Investment, Viana Kukuli Aggrey during an extraordinary meeting of cabinet presided over by Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony on Thursday in Juba.

Andruga Mabe, State Minister of Information and Communications, said the cabinet directed the Ministers of Finance and public service to table the budget at the state assembly.

“About the memo tabled by Minister of Finance, Planning and Investment, the council approved the supplementary budget for financial year 2023-2024 and directs Honorable minister of finance, planning and investment and labor and public service to implement accordingly and this supplementary budget will then be taken to state legislative assembly for final approval,” Mabe told journalists after state cabinet meeting on Thursday.

On 19 December, Viana Kakuli, the Finance and Investment Minister of Central Equatoria State, presented SSP 20 billion, the proposed budget for the fiscal year 2023/2024 to the state parliament.

SSP 20 billion that comes from two major sources, national government grants account for SSP 11.3 billion that constitutes 56 per cent and state own revenues SSP 8.9 billion that constitutes 44 per cent.

The budget aims to address various expenditures, including Salaries and Wages, Use of Goods and Services, Capital Expenditure, and other related costs.

It allocated SSP 6,991,935,493 for Salaries and Wages with SSP 7,353,643,117 SSP, whereas Use of Goods and Services accounts for SSP 5,221,030,875 SSP.
