JUBA — The Governor of South Sudan’s Central Equatoria State, Emmanuel Adil Anthony, has called on members of the ruling party, Sudan People Liberation Movement (SPLM), in the state to unite as the country gears toward the would-be 2023 elections.
Adil made this call during the conclusion of a two-day SPLM State liberation council meeting held in Juba on Saturday.
“There is a need for the SPLM party’s cadres to embrace unity amongst themselves because unity is a fundamental strength of any organization in the world, especially in fast-tracking the party’s mission and vision has given the current political dispensation,” read part of a statement on the office of government’s Facebook page.
It said the two-day meeting concluded with a renewed commitment toward massive mobilization of members and resources to finance the party’s campaigns ahead of the forthcoming general elections.
“Emmanuel commended the cadres for their unequivocal commitment towards their continuous efforts in rejuvenating the party in achieving its vision and mission as enshrined in the party constitution.”
Michael Roberto Kenyi, Representing members of the State Liberation Council, promised that they would work hand in hand with the state government to confront pertinent issues in the state.
The SPLM has been running rallies across the 10 states and three administrative areas in a bid to win souls towards the 2023 general elections, by recruiting new members and endorsing President Salva Kiir as the flag bearer.
In May, SPLM in Central Equatoria State lit up the streets through mass mobilization ahead of general elections in 2023.
