This directive came during an emergency security meeting chaired by Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony at the state government secretariat yesterday in Juba.
Derick Derickson, Press Secretary in the office of governor for Central Equatoria State said in a statement extended to Sudans Post that the directive aims at mitigating the rampart violence between cattle owners and farmers in most parts of the state.
“The state security committee has reiterated their earlier call of evacuating some of the cattle in contested areas to their places of origin immediately for peace and stability to prevail in contested areas,” Derick said.
In December 2020, eleven people were allegedly killed in cattle-related violence in Terekeka County.
The state official said that the security committee is working hard to address the situation in Terekeka County to restore peace among the communities.
“The committee members’ further call on the general civil population in Terekeka County to remain calmed and desist from inter-communal clashes and opt for peaceful coexistence,” he said.
