JUBA, APRIL 19, 2023 (SUDANS POST) – South Sudan’s civil society watchdog, the Community Empowerment for Progress Organization (CEPO), has urged the government in Juba to take lives of its citizens living in Sudan seriously.
This comes after the Sudanese conflict which begun on Saturday as a result of attacks by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on Sudanese Armed Forces positions entered its fifth day, with the army having upper hand in the control of the capital Khartoum.
In a recorded statement extended to Sudans Post, CEPO’s Executive Director Edmund Yakani called on the government and the Transitional Legislative Assembly to take lives of the citizens of South Sudan in Sudan seriously.
“I am calling on the government in Juba including the legislative assembly to take the lives of our people in Sudan seriously and also provide solutions to those who might be in need and strapped,” Yakani said in the pre-recorded statement to Sudans Post.
He also called for protection of Sudanese citizens who might have been displaced to the country by the ongoing violence where reports of civilians being killed in crossfire in the capital Khartoum has been reported by local media.
