CES governor urges Mundari community to embrace peace to resolve prevailing issues

JUBA – The governor of South Sudan’s Central Equatoria state, Emmanuel Adil Anthony, has appealed to the Mundari community of Central Equatoria to embrace peace so that the government can be able to find amicable solutions to conflicts among  themselves.

Adil who was speaking during a function at Nyakuron Cultural Centre this afternoon said recent killings in Terekeka will be investigated by the government and those found to be the culprits will be prosecuted.

“I want you to rally behind peace, unity and reconciliation amongst yourselves so that the government is given the benefit to arrest the chance to address the many issues that are facing Terekeka County,” Adil told the participants.

“My government will ensure that the perpetrators of the prevailing clashes are brought to book and face the legal justices accordingly, but there must be unity among yourselves so that the government is able to do its work properly,” he added.

For his part, the Archbishop of the Internal Province of Central Equatoria, His lordship Bishop Paul Yugusuk Pitia reiterated his provincial readiness to “work hand in hand with the state leadership of Governor Emmanuel on advancing peace related efforts amongst the various communities.”

Meanwhile the acting chairperson of the Mundari community, Wani Buyu, urged the Mundari community to “open a new chapter for a new beginning that will lead the people of Terekeka county to the path of peace and stability.”

The event, a one-day consultative meeting, was organized by the Mundari Community Association leadership in Juba.
