JUBA – The Reconstituted Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission (R-JMEC) is appealing to delegates at the National Dialogue conference in Juba to support the revitalized peace agreement signed in September 2018.

Speaking at the ND’s national conference, R-JMEC chief of staff, Ambassador Berhanu Kebede, said the 2018 peace deal which ended the war in February with the formation of the revitalized peace agreement is important given its provisions that lays foundation for future South Sudan unified national army.

“I urges the National Dialogue to support the achievement of this goal through whatever ways they can, not least in the sharing of their knowledge and experience they have gained in their work,” Kebede stressed.

“I would like to say that the vision of the Revitalized Peace Agreement is to lay a foundation for a united, peaceful and prosperous society based on justice, equality, respect for human rights and the rule of law is truly laudable,” He added.

Kebede believed that the recommendations of the conference will be of great interest to R-JMEC’S, saying that it will be bound well with the R-ARCSS.

“We must therefore all agree that the inclusion and recognition of the voices of the diverse peoples of South Sudan is of utmost importance to the peaceful future of this country,” said Kebede.

“As we continue to implement the Agreement in this Transitional Period, we should appreciate just how the voices of the entire spectrum of South Sudanese society are so important and critical in the implementation,”  he further said.
