Director of Juba Central Prison dies in Khartoum

The director of Juba Central Prison Lt. Gen. Michael Malow Makuach has died in the Sudanese capital Khartoum where he was receiving treatment, according to a security source.

JUBA, FEBRUARY 20th 2023 (SUDANS POST) – The director of Juba Central Prison Lt. Gen. Michael Malow Makuach has died in the Sudanese capital Khartoum where he was receiving treatment, according to a security source.

The source who requested not to be named told Sudans Post this afternoon that Gen. Makuach who hails from Twic Mayardit in Warrap State died on Thursday, February 16th, 2023 in the Sudanese capital Khartoum after having been hospitalized there for some time.

“Lt. Gen. Michael Malow was in Khartoum receiving treatment. He has been there for some time now and last week, exactly on Thursday, he died,” the security source said.

He further pointed out that the police general’s body has already been flown back to Juba from Khartoum and is expected to be buried in his home village at Mayen Abun in on 23 February 2023.

“His body has been brought to Juba and he will be laid to rest on 23 February 2023 at Mayen Abun village in Warrap State,” the security source said.

In 2020, Gen. Makuach who was until then a major-general in the national police service was promoted to the rank of lieutenant general by President Salva Kiir Mayardit.
