Djibouti’s president in Addis Ababa for 2-day state visit

In a statement, the Ethiopian foreign ministry said President Omar was welcomed at Bole International Airport by Prime Minister Abiy and was accompanied by a number of senior members of President Omar’s government.

ADDIS ABABA — Djibouti’s President Ismail Omar has arrived in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa for talks on bilateral relations with Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed.

In a statement, the Ethiopian foreign ministry said President Omar was welcomed at Bole International Airport by Prime Minister Abiy and was accompanied by a number of senior members of President Omar’s government.

“The President of the Republic of Djibouti, H.E. Ismael Omar Guelleh has arrived this afternoon in Addis Ababa for an official state visit to Ethiopia. Prime Minister, H.E. Abiy Ahmed has received the President upon his arrival at Bole International Airport,” the Ethiopian foreign ministry said.

Separately, Prime Minister Ahmed welcomed the visit by the Djibouti head of state and said he is looking forward to discussing important bilateral issues concerning the two countries.

“I welcome my brother Ismail Omar Guelleh, President of the Republic of Djibouti, to his second home,” PM Ahmed wrote on Twitter.

“I look forward our fruitful discussions on issues of common interest over the next two days,” Prime Minister Abiy added.
